How It Started
A text that changed everything.
Valor Alto VR was born from a single afternoon at a VA long-term care ward in Puerto Rico. Our founder knew a 65-year-old Army Special Operations veteran — a man who had crossed oceans and jungles — staring at the same ceiling for over a year, confined by throat cancer. He had lost hope after part of his tongue was removed. His world had shrunk to a hospital room, staying connected to friends and family only through a phone screen.
After he passed, the idea took hold in the mind of our founder — known to him as Birriel. He began to think about what it would have meant to give that veteran a moment of peace and joy through immersive recreation. To let him stand on a beach in Japan, a place he had been stationed decades before. To feel the world open up again, even from a hospital bed.
That vision made one thing undeniable: technology could give back what illness and injury had taken. Valor Alto VR was founded to make that moment available to every veteran who needs it.
